Psychologist (CRP 08/0774), holds a master's and PhD in psychology from the University of São Paulo (USP), and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in human development at the University of Brasília (UnB). She served as a professor at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) for 40 years. She is the author of 19 books and one hundred scientific articles. Her research has focused on adoption and abandonment since 1989.

Holds a Master's degree in Philosophy, specializing in the Philosophy of Psychoanalysis, from Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR), and a degree in Journalism from the same institution. Research member (2023-2024) of the Otávio Frias Filho Chair in Studies on Communication, Democracy, and Diversity at the Institute of Advanced Studies (USP).
